Drought in New Mexico

Fire Information

Drought and wildfire risk are linked – dry conditions lead to increased fuel (dry grass, dead trees).  Additionally, weather patterns during drought often enhance wildfire risks – wind, low humidity, low precipitation.  For information regarding national and state level wildfire risk and development visit the National Interagency Fire Center and New Mexico State Forestry websites.
